The enforcement of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) in the United Kingdom has put the focus firmly on energy conservation compliance and the need for low energy, high performance buildings.

Stock Condition surveys
A stock condition survey can help to identify and manage the risks associated with taking over or maintaining a large portfolio of existing buildings.
Good quality up to date asset intelligence is a pre-requisite to effective management of any stock. The aim of all stock condition surveys is to establish the future financial liabilities of the housing assets, through collecting robust information relating to building components.
HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System)
The adoption of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System as the primary indicator of housing minimum standards (from April 2006) means that all staff need training and awareness in the new system.
You can decide whether to adopt the Warwick School of Law full scoring format or the Condensed Identification method devised by Birmingham City Council's Private Sector Housing Team to capture Category One Hazards. Both systems can be incorporated into the training, with ongoing support provided.
